FUJI X Series Travel Kit Marrakech

Im a documentary wedding photographer, based in Lytham Lancashire.

I shoot only fuji equipment. My Wedding kit is made up of 2 x Fuji X-T1 bodies, 35mm F1.4, 56mm F1.2, 10-24 F4mm, 16mm F1.4 and a X100T plus other associated kit.

Last week I travelled to Marrakech and decided to travel light. I took my X100T, which is my favourite camera I have ever owned (and there have been many). This gives me 35mm FF equivalent. I do not have any adapters which could make this a 28mm and 50mm. I also took a X30 point and shoot camera too. This camera, recently released was pretty impressive.

Its not a lot smaller than the X100T so it will not fit in your pocket and it has a smaller sensor too, making slightly poorer in low light, its also about half the price of the X100T. So what does it offer. Well quite a lot. It offers a stabilised zoom from 28mm to 100mm FF equivalent, from F2 to F2.8 and it uses the same batteries as the X100T too. However it also focuses down to 1cm, which is a real bonus and significantly better than the X100T. On the basis of this I recently sold my 60mm F2.4 macro lens and now carry the X30 as my macro kit.

The 60mm was never my favourite, as it does not offer 1:1 magnification and I found it to be a slow focusing lens. Step up the X30.

As a travel kit I have a fixed 35mm prime, capable of working up to 6400 ISO and a 28mm - 110mm zoom capable of usable images to 1600 ISO with a substantial macro facility and stabilised. Both using the same batteries. Both cameras offer higher ISO but I see this personally as the upper useable limits. Both offer charging via USB too.

The X30 has a built in flash, custom buttons and many features familiar to Fuji X camera owners.

Here are few shots taken with these camera in Marrakech.

I offer monthly photography courses at my studios where you can use these cameras for yourselves.
